Glad I had already gone to bed... #wsmv demon

The other day I was heading to work and checked my twitter account out of habit...

I don't really "twitter," but it's an interesting platform when you want a quick glance at what people are talking about. I checked the "trends" of what had happened since I had been asleep and noticed a hashtag that caught my eye...

"#wsmv demon"

WSMV is our local NBC affiliate. I personally love their unique and sometimes comedic commercials about their news teams and thought that maybe this was something to do with a new commercial... maybe?

I did some more investigating and turns out that after J and I had gone to sleep, Nashville welcomed some thunderstorms. On Channel 4, after transitioning from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, a momentary flash of a demon face occurred during the intro for WSMV's 4 Warn Weather Alert.

Very, very creepy!

Well this had caused a stir in the Nashville community. Apocalyptic warning in the Music City?? If the devil wanted to show up somewhere, wouldn't it be the notorious Sin City??

Well, websites began talking about it (dailypicksandflicks.com, Nashvillescene.com) and WSMV felt that it was needed to make a statement. (Thank goodness!)

Well... since some of you have asked about what appeared to be a "strange" image on our air last night...here's the deal:

Throughout late-night programming, and during those bad storms, Channel 4 was interrupting various network commercial breaks for severe weather cut-ins.

We were transitioning to one such cut-in as NBC’s Jimmy Fallon tossed to a network commercial. The half-second of images th
at aired before the cut-in started were obviously the first few frames of whatever that network commercial was going to be.

As you can tell, our control room was in the process of covering up that network break for our weather report. Perhaps a promo for NBC's Grimm? Movie trailer? Whatever the commercial was, we don't actually play out network commercials here in Nashville.... we pass them through our air and we were in the process of interrupting those network breaks for weather coverage.

You are now safe to proceed with your evening. Evil-free.

Grimm? A movie trailer? I felt a little more at ease... but after showing the segment to J, he admitted himself he was spooked as well.  We had never seen something on tv quite like that, had we?

Making sure that the Nashville community was up to date with the current devilish climate, WSMV issued another statement this morning...

Thank you to the astute viewer who solved the week's big mystery. The fragment of the network commercial that ran for a half-second before our weather cut-in was..... a spot for "Clear Men" dandruff shampoo! (We initially thought it might have been a promo for Grimm).

This is good, because this frees all of us up to battle evil elsewhere!

Glad we got that solved! Still a creepy commercial though!
