Never forget.

I can’t believe it has been 10 years .. or 120 months…  or approximately  3660 days … or 87,840 hours.
Whichever way you look at it, it wasn’t yesterday.
But yet…
it does feel like yesterday.
Because I will never forget.

I was a sophomore in High School. I was in Trigonometry when another teacher ran into the room and rapidly told my teacher, “The World Trade Center, its on fire. You have to turn the tv on.”
Peter Jennings was reporting a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center towers and that perhaps it had been a terrible accident. During this report, however, a second plane hit the other tower.
It couldn’t have been an accident.
And I will never forget the fear it his voice.

We watched as people jumped from the towers.
We watched as both towers fell.
We heard reports that a plane had hit the Pentagon and another had been lost.
I will never forget those images.

Living in Northern Kentucky, we were very close to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. Shortly after the towers fell, for approximately an hour, no planes were allowed to land. My school was on a landing pattern, and I clearly remember the sound of planes flying over my head every 2-3 minutes.
They sounded so low.
And with the new fear that planes brought, I was scared.
And I will never forget that sound.

I saved all of the papers and watched all the coverage.  All because I didn’t want to forget 9/11.

The radio station that I listen to has been playing a very moving song about 9/11. It portrays a little girl telling her daddy how much she misses him, one year after, five years after, and now ten years after.
I cry every time I listen to it.

9/11 is a moment I’ll never forget.

Where were you on 9/11?

Beautiful post. I was in class as well and also watched it on tv. What I remember most though is that a girl in class's father was supposed to be in the first tower and that she didn't find out for hours that he had missed his meeting there because he had gotten stuck in traffic.
